~What We Do~
At Project Hiraeon, we focus on humane, sustainable animal welfare—starting with Trap-Neuter-Release (TNR) of feral and community cats. Our goal is to break the cycle of overpopulation, reduce suffering, and build a healthier balance between people and animals through hands-on TNR work, education, and community engagement.

~Why TNR Matters~
Unchecked, feral cat populations can grow rapidly. A single unspayed female cat and her offspring can produce thousands of kittens in just a few years. This leads to overcrowded colonies, increased disease, starvation, and conflicts with local wildlife and residents. Without intervention, these cats often suffer and contribute to overwhelming shelter intakes and euthanasia rates.

TNR is the only proven, humane solution. It involves trapping feral cats, having them spayed or neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, and then returning them to their original locations. This not only prevents future litters but also stabilizes colonies, reduces mating behaviors like fighting and spraying, and improves overall health. Studies show TNR-managed colonies shrink naturally over time and help create safer, healthier communities.

~Where We’re Starting~
Our current focus is the Milford area, where feral cat populations have spiraled out of control—rooted in a mix of abandoned barn cats and displaced pets from local disasters like the Milford fire. These cats have reproduced unchecked, creating a growing crisis. We're stepping in to stabilize and protect both the animals and the community.
